After the success of Drishyam 2 Hindi, it was reported that the makers are already planning a third installment for the Drishyam franchise. The reports suggest that the makers of Malayalam and Hindi versions are considering releasing both films on the same day, to maintain the suspense factor. However, Jeethu Joseph recently denied it saying that there are no plans to release Mohanlal and Ajay Devgn's versions together. For the unversed, Jeethu Joseph is the Director of Drishyam's Malayam film franchise.
In an interview with a news portal, director Jeethu Joseph revealed that there are no plans to release Mohanlal and Ajay Devgn's versions of Drishyam 3 together. As per the filmmaker, he has not even kickstarted the scripting of Mohanlal's Drishyam 3, and the discussions on the storyline are still on. The director will start writing the film only after wrapping up his next outing Ram. Jeethu Joseph also added that the makers of the Malayalam version have not even discussed the possibilities of a common release date with the Hindi production team.

Furthermore, film trade analyst Sumit Kandel called Drishyam 2 an 'EXHILARATING - ENTHRALLING & ENTERTAINING' thriller and also gave it four stars. Another movie analyst Atul Mohan called Drishyam 2 'Thriller of the year'. Coming to Drishyam 2 box office collection, Box Office India reported that Drishyam 2 film may turn out to be one of the biggest openings ever for a Ajay Devgn starrer on a non holiday which would have not been expected by anyone with 30 to 35 percent occupancy Pan-India.
