The road connecting Jalandhar to Ropar is blocked. The area near the Sokhian toll plaza is reportedly jammed. Drivers are advised to travel through alternative routes, such as going through Ludhiana, if they are to travel to Chandigarh.
The road is reportedly blocked by Punjab Home guards who are distraught over not having received their retirement pension and benefits. The protest was staged at the Solkhian Toll Plaza. The Home guard has been staging frequent protests since July 2018.
They claim that the government has continuously failed to meet their demands. They have received assurances from various leaders in the past but were reportedly disappiointed as no action was taken.
They have been blocking the road since yesterday, 10 A.M. The police has been diverting the traffic through Morinda and Chamkaur Sahib, which has resulted in massive jams.
