War on Drugs: After CM Mann's ultimatum, Over 100 Police officials carry out CASO in Jalandhar

The police authority launched Operation Caso early morning in the Jalandhar’s Qazi Mandi area.

Bhagwant Mann, Chief Minister of Punjab conducted a meeting with all district DCs and SSPs regarding drug peddling and addiction in Punjab. CM Mann has made an effort to free Punjab from drugs, he has strictly issued an order to eradicate drugs from the state within three months. On the instructions of CM, the police authority launched Operation CASO (Cordon and Search Operation) early morning in the Jalandhar’s Qazi Mandi area. Led by Jalandhar's Commissioner of Police, Dhanpreet Kaur, the operation targeted 11 locations under the Jalandhar Commissionerate. The Police Commissioner personally led the team at Bhargo Camp. 

Operation CASO was implemented with a presence of heavy police personnel. The whole area was sealed before police officers began their investigation. Officers searched the suspected residents’ houses. The main targets of the operation were drug peddlers and criminals involved in robberies. The city police teams were instructed to track down and stop illegal activities happening in different areas.

The operation Caso began in the early morning at 7 am with 100 plus police personnel for the investigation. Residents who were previously accused in drug-related cases or suspects’ houses were thoroughly searched. Over 20 houses were investigated during the raid.

Jalandhar, March 1: Under Punjab government’s “War Against Drugs” campaign, Jalandhar Commissionerate Police, led by Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur, conducted large-scale search operations at 11 locations in the city.
 
Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur personally supervised the operation in Bhargo Camp and stated that a significant police force, under the supervision of ACP-rank officers, was deployed to inspect 11 sensitive locations identified for drug-related activities. She added that these operations aimed at eliminating drug networks and curbing drug trafficking in the city.
 
Reaffirming the Punjab government’s commitment to tackling drug abuse, the Police Commissioner emphasized that the Commissionerate Police is dedicated to eradicating drugs from society. She issued a stern warning to individuals involved in the drug trade, stating that the crackdown would continue, and strict action would be taken without any leniency.
 
She urged the public to support Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s anti-drug initiative and work together to eliminate drugs from society. Additionally, she encouraged citizens to report any drug-related activities in their vicinity, assuring them that their identities would be kept confidential.
The raid was planned strategically, officers started their search before most residents had even woken up. SHOs from several police stations, along with area ACPs and other officials, were part of Operation Caso.

ACP Nirmal Singh said that their target is to help make Punjab drug-free. Moreover, he emphasized that operations like Caso, will continue to curb drug peddling and criminal activities in the region.
