While the government is making all efforts to curb drug menace in Punjab, new ways of smuggling are being explored by these drug smugglers. The Punjab government is conducting raids under various initiatives to eradicate drugs from Punjab. Due to this, now Amritsar police is also raiding the houses of smugglers every day.
According to sources, the police raided the house of the smugglers in Krishna Nagar area of Chheharta police station in Amritsar. After getting a tip, the police conducted raid in which weighing scales and some drugs recovered from the roof of the house of the smugglers.
Locals in the area are upset over the drug menace.
“There has been a lot of speculation and drug dealing in the area for a long time but the police are unable to catch them. The people of the state have appealed to the administration to get rid of this heroin and drugs to make their area drug free,” said a local resident.
Police Chief Gurwinder Singh said that they were conducting raids with his team and every possible effort is being made by the police to curb the drug menace.
