Since the story of the movie is so close to reality especially in Punjab, the question arises whether Dunki is a true story or not. Furthermore, film-maker Raj Kumari Hirani in a discussion with SRK revealed that it was a 'real' Jalandhar home that inspired him to make the movie Dunki. Below is everything you need to know about Dunki Real Story and Dunki Real Jalandhar House-

Is Dunki a true story?

The answer is yes. Although the makers have kept the storyline under wraps, it is reported that Dunki is a true story based on the illegal immigration technique Donkey Flight used by fraudsters. Interestingly, recently in an interview Dunki director Rajkumar Hirani revealed that an image of a real house in Jalandhar inspired him to make the Shah Rukh Khan movie. Here's what Rajkumar Hirani said on Dunki's Real Jalandhar House-

During the discussion, Shah Rukh Khan asked Rajkumar Hirani how the journey of Dunki started. IN response Rajkumar Hirani said, "Raj Kumari Hirani says, "Actually this is not a CG, this is an actual real home in Jalandhar or let's say nearby Jalandhar. In the image, you can see a huge airplane of cement has been made and this is actual. In Punjab, there are many houses where airplanes have been made on the terrace of the houses. I was amazed by it. Then, I tried to know why the people of Punjab do this."

"This photo was taken when we thought to make the film Dunki and went to the house for research. I learned that this is a culture that if a child or a family member of the house reaches a foreign country like London, Canada, USA, then they build a plane on the terrace of their house to flaunt it," added Rajkumar Hirani.

Thereafter, Shah Rukh Khan replies, "So, it's like a moment of pride that a family member has gone to a foreign country. I have also shot in Punjab many times I have seen this as well but I didn't know why people make it at their homes. I used to think that it must be a water tanker and people have just made a design out of it. "

Raj Kumar Hirani replies, "Sir, that is used as a water tanker as well. But, the one in the photo is different. There are two bedrooms in it.

The official synopsis of the movie says, "Join Hardy and his four ‘ullu da patthas’ as they embark on their remarkable journey of love, friendship, and nostalgia."
