Veteran filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma recently appeared in a podcast and discussed his early life and film-making career. From KGF 2, Satya, Baahubali, Rajinikanth, Rajamouli, Amitabh Bachchan, Ram Gopal Varma aka RGV gave his unique intake on almost every burning question. During a podcast with Pinkvilla, RGV spilled the beans that Aamir Khan's cult classic movie Rangeela was actually based on a real-life love story or let's say heartbreak. Below is what you need to know-
On being asked about his first heartbreak, RGV said, "Heartbreak I don't know. I was in love with a girl who was loving someone else. But, I didn't feel anything. I knew she was loving someone else and loosely that's how Rangeela came. As you can see, Aamir is not jealous, Aamir is not negative about it. He genuinely feels that she deserves someone better than him. So, that part has come from my own love story."
For the unversed, Rangeela was released in 1995 and it was directed by Ram Gopal Varma featuring Aamir Khan, Urmila Matondkar, and Jackie Shroff. Rangeela was A. R. Rahman's first Hindi film with an original score and soundtrack, as his previous Hindi releases were dubbed versions of his Tamil films.
Ram Gopal Varma further said that his favourite all-time movie is The Godfather. On being asked about his favourite shoot locations, RGV said, "Not really." However, he said, "Mumbai always intrigued me, especially when I was making Rangeela. I stayed in Mumbai for the first time for the movie Rangeela. I used to be fascinated with Matunga, Dharavi Slums, and that is what inspired me to make movie like Satya."
On being asked about his favourite actor, RGV said, "I will not say favorite, I was obsessed with Sridevi, Amitabh Bachchan. But, I am not sure because of their acting but their persona.
