Taking strict action against controversial statements made by Union minister Anurag Thakur and BJP MP Parvesh Sahib Singh, the Election Commission has ordered the BJP to remove them for its list of star campaigners for the 2020 Delhi assembly election.
In a press conference, the Election Commission said BJP must remove the two from its star campaigner list with immediate effect.
"Election Commission has ordered the removal of Anurag Thakur and Parvesh Sahib Singh from the list of star campaigners of Bhartiya Janata Party for the general elections to the Legislative Assembly of the NCT of Delhi with immediate effect and until further orders," the Election Commission said in the statement.

The Election Commission's action comes days after the two BJP leaders made controversial remarks in their public address during the election campaign in Delhi.
