The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday transferred a total of 16 officers which included Additional Directors and Joint Directors ahead of the upcoming 2024 Elections. The list of officers who were transferred included Amit Dua, ADE, Jalandhar Zonal Office, who has been transferred to Headquarters, Establishment & Vigilance. Notably, ED's major reshuffle comes months before the General Elections 2024. The reshuffle and transfers hint at the fact that the Centre's investigative agency will resurrect in the state when a new officer takes charge.

A top BJP leader whose footprint in Punjab is quite massive, talking to True Scoop News informed that ED in Punjab went into an inactive state. Therefore, this transfer and reshuffle was the need of the hour. As soon as a new officer takes charge, the ED's action is expected to be resurrected in the Punjab. Therefore, with the countdown of the 2024 polls having begun, it is expected that the Central Agency will amp up its investigation against the opposition leaders especially AAP and the Congress. It is pertinent to mention here that comparatively, ED in Punjab was not that active, revealed the source, and therefore, in order to reactivate the agency, the transfers have taken place.
