With a view to giving further boost to the ongoing massive "Enrollment Drive" , the Education Department, would set up canopies during the Baisakhi Melas across the state to make the public aware about the changing scenario of government schools. The major awareness drives would be held at Sri Anandpur Sahib, Sri Damdama Sahib and Sri Amritsar Sahib.
The District Education Officers, school heads, teachers, SMCs have made elaborate arrangements for the purpose. The canopies suitably decorated with flex hoardings highlighting improve in infrastructural as well as quality education facilities and major achievements of the government schools would be set. Pamphlets would be distributed, promotional songs and ' Nukkad Nataks' ( Street Plays) would be staged at the mela sites to mobilise people to avail the benefits of the quality education facilities in the smart government schools.
It is pertinent to mention here that massive enrollment drive is currently underway in the state. The Education Secretary, Krishan Kumar, has himself made announcements using the Public address system of Gurdwaras and visited “door to door" at some villages recently to give fillip to the enrollment drive by making the masses aware about the changing scenario of government schools.
The officials, school heads, teachers and non teaching employees of the department have been exerting their nerves to convert the enrollment drive into a mass movement in its true spirit.
The school teachers are using public address system of gurudwaras and other religious places, going door to door, distributing pamphlets, affixing flex hoardings, plying rickshaws / vans playing promotional songs , staging street plays at public places and setting up canopies at local Mela sites in different districts to highlight the revolutionary improvement in infrastructure as well as quality education facilities.
Moreover, several talented teachers, who have made videos of their promotional songs and skits have been uploading these on You tube / F Facebook pages and the well knit social media team has been sharing all the highlights in Whatsapp groups also. The posters highlighting various quality education activities / good practices are also being prepared and shared in social media groups of students, parents, Sarpanches, SMCs etc.
