The Education Secretary, Krishan Kumar, today, visited Government High School, Abdal, especially to laud the worth emulating gesture of village panchayat , which has donated 5250 sq.ft. land to the school. for constructing class rooms.
While lauding the dedicated efforts of the school headmistress, Deepika Dean and staff as well as the worth emulating gesture of the village panchayat and prominent personalities of the village, Krishan Kumar, said that the active and encouraging community participation had virtually been lending a new dimension to the " School Sikhiya Muhim" ( Quality Improvement Drive) , currently underway in Punjab.
He lauded the visionary and missionary spirit of the village sarpanch Ram Singh, former sarpanch, Kunnan Singh and other prominent personalities of the village for unanimously donating panchayat land for the extension and augmentation of infrastructural facilities for the students. It is worth mentioning here that reciprocating positively to the request of the Education Secretary, the village panchayat also agreed to donate the ' Community Hall' adjacent to the school building.
"The Community Hall' , which is presently in dilapidated condition, would be got repaired and renovated by the Education Department for using it for conducting seminars, examinations, meetings and other co-curricular activities. The Education Department would honour the village panchayat for the commendable contribution for ensuring better future for the coming generations", said Krishan Kumar, while expressing his gratitude towards the village panchayat.
Manjit Singh Sandhu, Principal, Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Shekhupura( Gurdaspur) , Deepika Dean, Headmistress, SMC Chairperson, Kashmir Kaur , Gurvinder Singh, Jagdeep Singh, Prem Pal Singh, Bhupinder Kaur, Mandeep Singh, among others, were present on the occasion.
