With elections on mind, the Captain Amarinder Singh-led Punjab government has announced new power tariff in which a cut of 50 Paise to Rupee 1 per unit for domestic consumers in Punjab has been announced.
Commercial consumers’ tariff remains unchanged and so does for the small and medium industry.
However, large industrial consumers see an increase in their tariff by less than 2%.

Specifically, for domestic consumers with load up to 2kW and consumption slabs of 0 to 100 units the tariff per unit has been reduced by Rupee 1. For the consumption slab of units 101 to 300, the tariff per unit has been reduced by 50 Paise.
For those domestic consumers who have load from 2kW to 7kW, for consumption slab from 0 to 100 units, the tariff per unit has been reduced by 75 Paise, and for the consumption slab 101 to 300 units, the tariff has been reduced by 50 Paise.

The financial relief to the consumers will in the range of Rs 682 crore.
