In a recent development, the Vigilance Bureau named Indrabir Singh, a former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Firozpur and Jalandhar Range, in a bribery case involving a sum of 10 lakh rupees. Rather than being charged with drug trafficking, the DIG is now under investigation for allegedly accepting this substantial bribe. As per reports, Indrabir has been nominated as an accused of taking Rs 10 lakh bribe from a drug supplier for not naming him in a case registered under the NDPS Act by the Bhikhiwind police in Tarn Taran.
Confirming the details to True Scoop News, sources in the known development provided an update stating that Indrabir Singh has been nominated as an accused in these cases. The investigation into the matter is presently ongoing, as authorities seek to uncover further evidence and gather relevant information.

How Indrabir Singh was nominated?
As per reports, the case dates back to June last year. An FIR was filed in Bhikhiwind police station in Tarn Taran against Surjit Singh, from whom 900-gm opium was recovered. Apart from Surjit, Nishan Singh, Hira Singh, DSP Lakhbir Singh and head constable Rashpal Singh were also nominated in the case. Following that in July 2022, DSP Lakhbir Singh, who was then posted at Faridkot, was arrested by the police in the case. The SIT formed to investigate this case found that a senior police official is involved in this case, however, no names were revealed and the case wads transferred to the Vigilance Bureau. After Vigilance took over the case, Inderbir was interrogated by senior officers of the bureau after his involvement was suspected.
