Severe cold waves continue in the states of North India. After 20 years, the cold wave in Uttar Pradesh is witnessed in the second week of December. Usually, the cold wave is witnessed in the third or fourth week of the month.
A farmer from Chitrakoot passed away on Saturday due to severe cold. Ayodhya is reported to be the coldest in the state as the temperature has reached 3 degrees Celsius.
The lowest temperature in Madhya Pradesh was recorded at 1.5 degrees Celsius in Shahdol. In Bhopal, the temperature was reported less than 4 degrees. The weather department said that this low temperature was recorded in December for the second time in 10 years.
The lowest temperature of the season has been recorded in 11 cities in Rajasthan. A total of 15 cities in MP and Rajasthan recorded temperatures below 4 degrees on Saturday.
The Meteorological Department has said that the cold wave will continue for 2 to 3 days in these states. On Sunday, cold wave alert was issued in 14 states, including Bihar and Haryana. Severe cold wave warning has been issued in Punjab and MP.
The temperature in many districts of Jammu and Kashmir has reached below minus. The Meteorological Department said that due to snowfall, the minimum temperature is witnessing a drop in the temperature. The temperature was recorded at minus 22 degrees Celsius. Srinagar recorded minus 3.4 degrees, Pahalgam minus 4.0 degrees and Gulmarg minus 3.8 degrees.
As per the Meteorological Department, Tamil Nadu & Puducherry will get more than 7 cm of rain. Lightning strikes are also expected in these states. Dense fog will prevail in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Wind speed reaching 55 kmph gusting to 55 kmph along the coasts of West Bengal. Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh are likely to receive more than 7 cm of rain. Dense fog warning has been issued in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Visibility may also decrease in these states. There is a cold wave alert in Rajasthan as well. Temperatures are expected to be below 5 degrees in many cities here.
These cold waves are caused as the strong cold winds with a speed of 278 kmph are blowing in west-north India at an altitude of 12.6 km/h. Western disturbance is active as well. Due to this, the snow is melting. Due to which the cold is increasing in the areas of north and central India. Due to the western disturbance in Pakistan, it is snowing continuously in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.
