March 2025 is here, and now it is time to officially say goodbye to the winter season. However, the hilly region of India is still dealing with rainfall and snowfall - possibly due to western disturbance. Because of the prevailing colds in the hilly region, plain regions are witnessing cold winds during the morning and evening time, but the temperature during the day is noticeably hot.

According to the Indian meteorological department, the temperature in Delhi-NCR has started touching the mark of 31°C, and the month of February 2025 has broken the heat record for the last 125 years. Previously, such hot weather and warmth were reported in February 1901.

Upcoming 3 months to witness EXTREME heat

Several heat predictions are being made by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). According to one such prediction, India will be facing extreme heat from March to May 2025, and people have been advised to take all the possible precautions against the heatwave.

Expectedly, Goa and the Konkan-Karnataka region will experience high heat waves. Surprisingly, a few of the predictions also claimed that the hilly region of the country will continue to occasionally witness rainfall, snowfall, and cold winds due to western disturbance.

How harsh and intense will the heatwaves be?

As per the update by IMD, the country will witness intense heat during March and May 2025. The alert also highlighted that the nation could experience both maximum and minimum temperatures, along with more than expected heatwaves. Notably, Northeast India and the peninsular regions, including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh, will report relatively moderate or normal heatwaves; meanwhile, other states are expected to report extreme heat conditions.

The expected high temperatures!

By the end of March, North India is expected to witness extreme temperatures, soaring up to 50°C, which generally ranges between 40°C (maximum) and 25°C (minimum). Focusing on the impact of heat in the region, IMD meteorologist DS Pai has outlined that the states including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana are also expected to experience extreme heatwaves.

The weather during the months of March, April, and May -

March: The Indian Meteorological Department has outlined that during the month of March, the temperature may reach up to 43°C, and around 8 to 12 days of the month, heatwave conditions can be observed.

April: During the month of April, people may experience maximum temperatures soaring up to 46°C, and approximately 10 to 12 days could bring heatwaves.
