Congress leader Rahul Gandhi who is fighting Lok Sabha Elections 2024 from Wayanad recently came under the scanner of social media after he made a bizarre promise. A video was shared by the pro-BJP handles and netizens on X in which Rahul Gandhi was heard promising unemployed youths of India Rs 1 lakh per year who watch Instagram reels and Facebook most of the time. As a result, Rahul Gandhi's Instagram reel youths promise went viral in no time and majority of people slammed the Congress leader for throwing freebies just to win the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.
A CA took to his X handle and wrote, "You have no right to give Taxpayers hard-earned money freely to youth who are doing timepass on Facebook & Insta! Youth should be full of energy to produce more for the country not depended on freebies!! Such freebies will kill the nation's development & progress!"
Another User wrote, "Rahul Gandhi declares an allowance of one lakh rupees for watching Facebook, Insta reels."
Truth behind Rahul Gandhi's promise for youths watching Instagram reels and Facebook
Notably, the video shared on X was edited. Users shared a small snip of Rahul Gandhi's video in which he seemed like promising Rs 1 lakh per year for unemployed youths watching Insta reels or Facebook. However, the claims the pro-BJP handles and netizens are totally fake and misleading.

"Narendra Modi Ji has turned India into a center of unemployment. Wherever you see and whosoever youth you ask, they say that they don't do anything. They keep on spending 7 to 8 hours on Instagram and Facebook. Why? Because Narendra Modi Ji has spread unemployment in the entire country. The one who used to give unemployment, PM Modi destroyed them with demonetization and GST.
Now, children of rich people, use a particular way to get a job. They get one year of apprenticeship i.e temporary job. They get trained, they get jobs, and ultimately money. However, this facility is not available for unemployed youths in India. Therefore, this is our second promise 'Pehli Naukri Pakki'. Under this, youths who are graduates, and diploma holders, we will given them the right to apprenticeship.
Just like the MNREGA we gave jobs to workers, under apprenticeship, we will give the youths 'Pehli Naukri Ka Adhikar'. All the diploma or Graduate holders will get an apprenticeship of 1 year. In a year they will earn Rs 1 lakh and monthly they will get Rs 8,500. If they will do good work in the first year, then they will be retained. The apprenticeship jobs will be in Private Sectors, PSUs, and government offices.
Therefore, employed youths who are today roaming the streets watching Instagram and Facebook, they will get Rs 8500 per month and Rs 1 lakh/ year. "
