In a shocking development, a gang of fake journalists has been busted by Punjab Police in Jalandhar. The gang of fake journalists are accused of blackmailing by sending QR Codes and trying to extort money. As per reports, the Police have arrested 6 fake journalists. Two women are also included among the accused.
Ramamandi Police Station has registered a case under sections 384, 420, 419, and 34 of IPC against Sunny Mahendra, resident of Ajyu Mohalla, Ali Mohalla, Misty resident of Bhargava Camp, Manpreet resident of Avtar Nagar, and two more. The police will present Subhi in court today and will take her on police remand and interrogate her.
Reports suggest that after threatening the (victim) resident of Dhilwan, all the accused had gone to the Jalandhar-Adampur highway to collect money. The accused had demanded Rs 1 lakh from the victim. The victim had somehow even given Rs 30,000 to the journalists. Still, the fake journalists continued to blackmail and harass the victim.
Amrjeet Singh, a resident of Dilwan, reportedly informed the police that he was constructing his house. During this time, fake journalists took photographs of the victim's house and complained about it to the Municipal Corporation Jalandhar and threatened to take action. The victim was not so knowledgeable, due to which the accused first extorted Rs 30,000 from the victim by threatening him.
Furthermore, it was revealed that the victim transferred about Rs 30 thousand to the Paytm account of the accused through QR code. But the accused started harassing the victim again. Regarding this, the victim immediately complained about the matter to the police and called the accused to pay the money. When he reached the spot to collect the money, he was caught by the police. The victim also made a video on the spot. In which the police are noting down the name numbers of the accused.
