Acceding to the request of Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi to start paddy procurement at the earliest, the Government of India has allowed the State to undertake paddy procurement from today(October 3).
Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi for his immediate personal intervention to advise the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution in this regard, the Chief Minister said this decision would be now instrumental in ensuring smooth and hassle free procurement of paddy to the satisfaction of the farmers.
It may be recalled the Chief Minister met Mr. Modi yesterday, who had assured him of early resolution of this issue.
