The Delhi Police on Tuesday said that a protesting farmer died after his tractor overturned at Central Delhi's ITO during the farmers' Republic Day tractor parade.

The details about the deceased protesters are yet to be gathered, said police.

The tractor overturned at ITO killing the farmer. The man was driving the tractor and he came under the vehicle as it overturned.

Protesting farmers draped the dead body of the farmer in the Indian national flag and kept it at the ITO crossing. The farmers did not allow the police to send the body for post-mortem.

Hundreds of farmers today participated in the tractor march, reaching from Ghazipur border deviating from the agreed route for the march, said a senior police officer.

The farmers also lashed out at the media persons covering the incident.

As the nation celebrated Republic Day in the morning, farmers protesting against the three farm laws entered Delhi from various border points,  knocking down police barricades long before the time that had been agreed upon for their tractor march in the capital.

There were clashes between farmers and cops at several spots. Police fired tear gas shells on the farmers, while farmers were seen trying running tractors over police personnel and attacking them.
