Angry farmers on Wednesday broke barricades and clashed with the police during their protest against BJP meeting in Jalandhar.
BJP State President Ashwani Sharma visited Jalandhar to preside over a party meeting and to discuss BJP’s strategy for upcoming polls. However, farmers launched a protest against him and held a dharna outside the meeting venue.
Scores of farmers gathered near Circuit House in Jalandhar, where the BJP meeting was being held. The protesting farmers blocked the entire road from Sky Lark chowk and marched towards the venue with black flags.

Farmers kept on shouting anti-government slogans and tried to push their way through the police barricades. However, when they were not allowed to do so, they broke the barricades and protested outside the venue.
A large force was deployed to take control of the situation; still there were reports of clashes between cops and farmers as the latter attempted to stop BJP leaders from entering the venue.
The farmers warned if the Centre did not withdraw the three laws, they would continue to oppose the meetings and rallies of the BJP.

The protesting farmers since long have been raising their voice against the BJP-led-centre government and its leaders over three farm laws and demanding that it must be taken back.
Several ministers of BJP in Punjab and Haryana in the past have been stopped by the protestors and violent clashes have taken place during several events.
