Even though the organizations have not yet made an official announcement, preparations are underway for the farmers' march to Delhi in the villages. Meetings have been started, farmers have already reached the border in trolleys carrying goods. Some are preparing to leave today, while some districts are preparing to leave on 20th July. Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher, who is leading the movement, reached the border on Monday. He announced that after surrounding the SP’s office in Ambala on July 17 and 18 (to demand the release of farmer leader Navdeep Singh Jalbera), a big convention will be held at the Constitution Club in New Delhi on the 22nd. Apart from intellectuals from across the country, opposition parties will also be invited. The next strategy will be announced in the press conference to be held in Chandigarh. For the march, the farmers are going door to door and collecting the necessary funds for the farmer movement.
In the villages also, the farmers are getting ready for the march to Delhi. Sources say that a group of 2,000 farmers from the Tarn Taran district is coming to Shambhu on July 20. A group from Amritsar will leave from Beas on August 20 and from Ferozepur on July 30 to reach Shambhu.
Haryana Govt. moves Supreme Court against High Court's order to remove the barricading:
Farmer leader Manjit Singh said that the march of the farmers to Delhi is certain. SKM (non-political) coordinator Jagjit Singh Dallewal said that 6 days have passed since the High Court's order on Shambhu border’s barricade removal, however, the Haryana government has not removed a single stone. On the contrary, security at the border has increased. The government does not want to open the road, that is why it has gone to the Supreme Court.
It is pertinent to note that the Haryana government approached the Supreme Court on July 13 against the High Court's decision to open the Shambhu border near Ambala on the Haryana-Punjab border. However, there has been no hearing on this petition, nor has a date been set. The government filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) before the SC, challenging the high court order, while stating it was not in favour of opening the Shambhu border as the closure was necessary to maintain law and order given the ongoing farmer agitation. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) team has not yet been instructed to remove the barricades.
Farmers’ Protest so far:
Hundreds of farmers have been camping on Shambhu and Khanauri border on the Punjab-Haryana border for 154 days with their demands. Ambala police remained deployed on the Shambhu border on Monday as before. Farmers are also standing with tractor-trolleys from Shambhu border to Shambhu police station. As per reports, more than 3000 farmers are present in more than 1000 trolleys.
At the same time, 400 trolleys are present on the roadside in an area of about four and a half km near Khanauri border. Farmers have set up tents and temporary accommodation on the roadside where arrangements have been made to protect them from the sun and rain. 500 farmers from Bathinda and surrounding areas will leave for Khanauri border on Tuesday morning. Farmer leader from Bathinda, Resham Singh Yatri, said that 6 months of ration will be kept with each trolley. Farmers from Gurdaspur have already joined the movement. Farmers from Ferozepur will leave the district for Delhi march on July 30. Farmer organizations in Barnala will take a decision on the Delhi march today. In Mansa, the Joint Kisan Morcha will submit a memorandum of demands to Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Tuesday. A decision on the strategy to go to Chandigarh will also be taken today.
