The blocked roads and railway tracks from Punjab to Delhi would continue to remain close as the meeting between Cooperation Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and farmer leaders remained inconclusive.
According to the leaders, the per quintal price of sugarcane in Haryana was Rs 350 last year and had now been raised to Rs 358, but sugarcane growers in Punjab had been receiving a price of Rs 310 per quintal for the last five years. The government does not agree with the farmers' claim on the cost of sugarcane. Due to this, on Monday the experts of sugarcane cultivation would meet farmers at the Circuit House of Jalandhar and following this on Tuesday farmer leaders would meet Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh.

The farmer’s protest would be continued till the meeting with the Chief Minister of Punjab. After the meeting, further decisions would be taken. As per the sources, from Tuesday, farmers would block toll plazas, restricting the movement across Punjab.
Today, the whole country is celebrating the festival of Raksha Bandhan, and on this day, farmer leaders were targeted and were accused that they have blocked the passage of brothers and sisters. Farmer leader Jangbir responded and said, “We have blocked the highway and railway tracks under compulsion. The government is not listening to us, so people are suffering.” He further said, “We have only closed the main highway, the shore service lanes are open.”
For now, Jalandhar is facing roadblocks due to two reasons – waterlogging and protest. After the rain since the night, the main roads have been waterlogged. At the same time, the roads are also jammed due to the farmers' dharna on the highway. In such a situation, people are facing double trouble.

Farmer leaders and the ministers also discussed the payment of Rs 200 crore standing on behalf of cooperative and private mills. Out of this, farmers have been assured to get Rs 45 crore from cooperative mills in the first week of September and the other dues would be released in the next few weeks.
Today, on the occasion of Rakhi farmers celebrated the festival at the site of the dharna. After tying Rakhi to the farmers, Kulwinder Kaur said that farmers in Delhi, now in Jalandhar, are being forced to celebrate the festival on the roads.
