The farmers have clearly stated that the state will be shut down on December 30, and road traffic will get affected. Posters have also been put up regarding this announcement.

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher, while announcing the Punjab bandh on December 30, appealed to the people of Punjab for their support. He urged trade, religious, political, and other organizations to join the call for the bandh. Pandher mentioned that farmers have been protesting for the past 10 months, and farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has been on hunger strike for the past month, with his health continuously deteriorating. Despite this, the central government has not discussed the issues with the farmers.

Pandher further stated that trains were blocked throughout Punjab earlier, and now, on December 30, the state will be completely shut down. He added that the “Rail Roko” movement has received tremendous support from millions of farmers, workers, women, youth, and all sections connected to the agricultural market, including small shopkeepers and traders.

He emphasized that the Government of India is preparing to sell the country’s agriculture and other public institutions to corporate giants, but now the country’s farmers are awake and will not allow these plans to succeed.
