Farmer unions protesting against the three Central laws have decided to march towards the Parliament on November 29, shortly after their protest would complete a year. The protest against the farm laws would complete a year on November 26.

The decision was taken today by the nine-member committee of the United Kisan Morcha, the umbrella body of farmers' unions, during a meeting at the Sonipat-Kondli border.

Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal said, “From November 26, the farmers' movement will increase the number of farmers... will intensify the movement... on November 29, when the Parliament session (winter session) starts, a batch of 500-500 farmers will march to Parliament from Tikri and Ghazipur border.”

He further said, “If the government doesn't allow us to enter Delhi, we will go to jail”.

Earlier, on November 1, farmers’ leader Rakesh Tikait tweeted, “The central government has time till November 26, after that from November 27, and farmers will reach the border at the protest sites around Delhi by tractors from villages and strengthen the protest site with solid fortifications”.

This was the farm leader’s second warning to the government in two days. Mr Tikait had warned the government on the previous day that there would be repercussions if they tried to forcibly remove the demonstrators from the Delhi borders.

Farmers have been protesting at the three border sites of Tikri, Singhu, and Ghazipur since November 26 last year, arguing the government's claims that the three laws: Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; the Farmers Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and farm Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020, passed last year are in their best interests.
