The Indian cricket world is shocked by his demise. Former Saurashtra fast bowler and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) referee Rajendra Singh Jadeja has died due to Covid-19 infection. The Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) gave this information on Sunday. Jadeja was 66 years old.

The SCA said in a statement that everyone in the SCA is very upset by the untimely demise of Rajendra Singh Jadeja, one of the most brilliant cricketers of Saurashtra's past. He died on Sunday morning while fighting against Covid-19. Apart from being a good right-arm fast bowler, Jadeja was also a good all-rounder.

He took 134 and 14 wickets in 50 first-class and 11 List A matches respectively. He also scored 1536 and 104 runs in these two formats respectively. Jadeja was also the official referee of the BCCI in 53 first-class, 18 List A and 34 T20 matches. He was also the selector, coach and team manager of Saurashtra Cricket Association.

Former BCCI and SCA secretary Niranjan Shah said Rajendra Singh Jadeja was a man of level, style, ethics and brilliant cricketing ability. His dedication and contribution to cricket will always be remembered. SCA president Jaydev Shah also expressed grief over his demise.

He said that this is a great loss to world cricket. He was one of the most brilliant people I met. “I was lucky to have him as our head coach, manager and mentor. I played many matches”, he added.
