Fear among illegal Indian immigrants in America: Over 6 lakhs move to ‘safe’ states

On 20th January, Donald Trump took oath as the 47th President of America. Following this, he made many big announcements and took many rapid decisions.

After taking the oath, Trump said that the golden age of America has begun. Trump's aides said that he would issue a number of orders soon after being sworn in, aimed at changing US immigration policies and eliminating birthright citizenship.

After the oath taking ceremony, Trump reached the Oval Office and signed multiple executive orders. Additionally, he cancelled a total of 78 decisions of the Biden government.

Following this, President Donald Trump signed an order to end the birthright citizenship in the United States and a coalition of civil rights and immigration groups filed a lawsuit against the move.

This executive order directs federal agencies to deny recognition of US citizenship for children born on American soil to parents who are living in the country illegally or on temporary visas unless one parent is US citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Additionally, President Donald Trump has announced to arrest and deport illegal immigrants. After Trump's victory on 5th November, illegal Indian immigrants had started migrating to safe states.

According to immigration activists and NGOs, about 6 lakh illegal Indian immigrants have settled in different states like Illinois, Boston, California and New York. Illegal immigrants consider these states 'safe' because they are ruled by Biden-Kamala's party. These American states are not strict on illegal immigrants.

Illegal immigrants avoid going to Trump's Republican states. According to Border Immigration, 2.75 lakh Indians came to America from Canada border, 2.25 lakh from Mexico border and 2.25 lakh Indians overstayed visa.
