American filmmaker and New York Times journalist Adam Ellick started a discussion online by sharing a video in which the Indian passengers were trying to take out their luggage from the overhead compartment despite repeated warnings. The video opens with a text insert – ‘Textbook landing in India for 1st time.’ It can be clearly seen in the video that all the air passengers are trying to take out their luggage, while the female crew members are asking them to sit on their seats until the seatbelt sign is turned off. A male staff was also making an announcement, following which the passengers reluctantly go back to their seats.

‘Classic landing in India,’ Adam Ellick wrote in a caption below the post, adding that the passengers were not seating their seats while the plane was still moving on the runway.

Adam Ellick shared a video a few days ago, and so far, the video has received more than 1111 likes and 87.8 views (while writing). In the comment section, users had mixed reactions. While some agreed with the filmmaker, some criticised him for labelling the video as a ‘classic Indian landing’. Some users also noticed how when a male crew member said something, passengers listened to him, but when a female crew member spoke, her words were ignored.

One user wrote that it is difficult to accept the fact that the magic male voice was immediately successful while multiple requests in the female voice went completely unheard. Being a woman, I found this very unsettling.

However, one user wrote, ‘ Have been to the Us 13 times and have always found Americans doing the same atleast 8 to 10 times so please lets not generalise a single incident.’ One said that this is not a matter of a particular country, I live in UK and it is the same here . if you travel around the world you will get to know."
