Karan Johar, who has produced Abhishek Varman's Kalank, shared an update about his upcoming Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan starrer flick. On Wednesday night, KJo posted a picture which apparently cannot be called a first look, but he did share the story behind the origin of the film.

The filmaker and producer, took to his Instagram handle and described how the film took birth. He in his post said, "heart and mind 15 years ago." He in his post unveiled that 'Kalank' was his father Lt. Yash Johar's dream project. He captioned the pic he posted as, "The last film my father worked on before he left us. It was his dream to see this film come through."

In his post, KJo also revealed that the film, which has been "woven, nurtured and visualised" by Abhishek Varman, is set in the Forties. He also hinted that the film's first look will be unveiled on Thursday. "Tomorrow the journey begins... I am excited, anxious and emotional about this one. I do hope you join us on our path to undying love", he added.

Kalank has been produced under Karan Johar's production house Dharma Productions. The film's impressive star-cast includes Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur among others.
The period drama went on floors in April last year and the film's final schedule wrapped in January this year. Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan starrer is scheduled for release on 19th of April this year.
