Salil Parekh, MD and CEO of technology company Infosys appeared in front of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today. The summon was issued to him regarding the problems being faced in the new income tax e-filing portal. The Finance Minister has asked them to fix all the problems by September 15. The current website was prepared with a hefty amount of Rs 4241 crore and was launched on 7 June. Since then it has been creating many problems. It was made by Infosys.
Problems coming even after two and a half months
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman held a meeting with Salil Parekh. In the meeting, technical problems being faced in the e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department was discussed. The Finance Ministry told Salil Parekh that the government and taxpayers are facing continuous problems even after two and a half months of the launch of the portal.
Salil Parekh clarified
Giving clarification before the Finance Minister, Salil Parekh said that he and
his team are doing everything to ensure that the portal works properly. He said
that a team of over 750 people is working on this project and Infosys COO
Praveen Rao is personally overseeing the project.
Portal was closed on 21st August
Problems related to return filing and refunds have been coming in the portal since its launch. At the same time, from August 21 to 22, the portal was not working. Due to this people had to face trouble.
Meanwhile, Infosys has claimed late on 22 August that the Income Tax website has been restored and its problem has been resolved. Infosys said through social media, “Emergency maintenance work of Income Tax India portal is over and the portal is live. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to the people.”
These big problems coming after the launch
· Challan number is not valid.
· Document Identification Number (DIN) is not getting auto populated.
· TDS returns filed on the new website are getting rejected.
· Form 15CA/CB is not being filed.
· Vivad se Vishwas scheme tab is not working.
· Returns are not being filed.
· Refund issue request is not being filed.
· Intimation orders of 143(1) of Income Tax are not opening.
· ITR Form 3, 5, 6, 7 is not available.
