A case has been registered against a Police inspector including a lady constable as Munshi of the PS division number 1 Jalandhar after one of the two bodies were found, of the two brothers who jumped into the Beas River about two weeks ago. Police told the body of younger brother was recovered from the fields near the river on Saturday. Based on the identification of the body by the deceased's family and the statement given to the police, an FIR has been registered against three. This has also been confirmed by Talwandi Chaudharian police station Kapurthala in-charge, Jaspal Singh.

On the complaint of the family, a case has been registered against the then in-charge of Police Station Division No. 1 inspector Navdeep Singh, lady constable Jagjit Kaur and Munshi Balwinder Singh.

The trio had been booked under section 306, 506 and 34 of the IPC.

Family members told that all three had beaten Manavjeet in the police station and had even taken off his turban. However, an FIR has been registered against SHO Navdeep Singh under section 295 of the Indian Penal Code for disrespecting the turban.
