Police Station Urban Estate has registered an FIR against the Principal of Nawab Jassa Singh Ahluwalia Government College, Kapurthala, Tirath Ram Basra. It is alleged that the principal mentally and physically harassed a female employee of the same college due to which she fell ill and died during treatment. Confirming this, the SHO, Kewal Singh said that based on the statement of the deceased’s mother Jasveer Kaur, an FIR has been registered and investigation has been started. However, the accused has not been arrested yet.
According to reports, family members and leaders of various employee unions, under the chairmanship of PSMSU/CPFEU District Head Sangat Ram, had staged a protest outside the Government College regarding this matter on Tuesday.
According to the information received from the police, Jasveer Kaur, wife of late Tarlok Singh, resident of Seenapura, informed in the complaint given to the police that her daughter had been serving in Nawab Jassa Singh Ahluwalia Government College since 2005, first as a teacher and as a clerk at the time of death. The workload of her daughter, Rajwinder Kaur was increased so much by college principal Tirath Ram Basra that she began to suffer mentally and physically.
Due to this, Rajwinder Kaur's health deteriorated on 15 December and she was admitted to a private hospital in Kapurthala for treatment. When her condition did not improve on 23 December, she was admitted to a private hospital in Mohali. Where she died during treatment on 30 December.
Jasveer Kaur, mother of the deceased female employee, alleged that the principal of Nawab Jassa Singh Government College, Tirath Ram Basra, was responsible for her daughter's death as he used to harass her continuously.
According to City Police Station Urban Estate SHO Kewal Singh, the police has registered a case against principal of government college tirath ram basra on the statement of the mother of the deceased female employee but still no arrests have been made.
