The country is going through a difficult time. This pandemic has stopped the lives of many people. People have struggled a lot during this difficult phase. The pandemic has brought forward the harsh reality of society. Due to this pandemic poor has become poorer and some have even slept hungry because of this difficult time. 

As every situation has a positive side, this pandemic too has. This difficult time has also revealed the presence of an immense kind and warm-hearted people in society. Many people have joined hands together to help the people during a pandemic. Some people delivered free food and ration, some provided medical aid and oxygen concentrators and some have collected money to provide smartphones and tablets for students to attend the online classes.

Here is an anecdote of five students from Pallikoodam School at Kalathipady in Kottayam. 

The names of the students are – Nihal Mathew, Niranjan Menon, Vinayak Dinesh, Kurien George Kalarickal, and Kurien Kurien Kalarickal, these are the students of Class 12th. These five students have collected funds collectively to buy tablets and mobile phones for deserving students. 

On this kind act, the school authority said, “The students came out with an impressive initiative to raise funds for students from economically backward families.”

It further said, “The students launched an online crowdfunding campaign. It was launched on June 12 and they have risen over Rs 4 lakh. Using the money, they bought and donated 40 tablets to students of two government-run schools in Kanam and Kumarakom in the district.”

The crowdfunding campaign was started with the collaboration of The Tiny Seed, it is a non-profit organization. This organization’s objective is to provide better platforms of learning to school children. 

The students have created a blog for their crowdfunding. On the blog they have written, “The pandemic has widened the social gap, especially with everything going digital. Unfortunately, many students of government schools do not have access to a smartphone or tablet and this puts them at a serious disadvantage.”
