It is reported that the Maharashtra government is planning to discontinue flights from Delhi and Mumbai amid the rising coronavirus cases in the capital city. Besides flights, train services between the two cities might also be suspended.
Though an official confirmation has not been made, sources from Maharashtra government told that a formal order regarding the same will soon be published.
As per the sources, “The action is being considered following a spike in Covid-19 cases in Delhi.”
On November 19, Delhi recorded 7,456 coronavirus cases pushing the city tally to 5.1 lakh, while 98 fatalities took the death toll to 8,041. This sudden rise in COVID-19 cases in Delhi resulted amid the festive season and increasing air pollution level.

The highest single-day spike till date was registered on November 11 when the city reported 8593 new cases and 85 fatalities. Ninety-eight fatalities were recorded on Thursday, taking the toll in the national capital to over 8,000-mark.
The health ministry statement said, “The Union government has advised the State/UT Governments to adopt aggressive and widespread testing to ensure that the missed out and undetected positive COVID-19 cases are promptly identified for timely and effective tracing, containment and subsequent treatment.”
