Project Management Institute (PMI) has introduced the industry’s first, platform-agnostic educational resources for organizations that are aiming to implement and scale Citizen Development (CD) techniques.
The PMI Citizen Development Body of Knowledge (CDBOK) is a centralized resource that enables people and enterprises to understand suitable practices for implementing citizen development within an organization at all levels of rank.
The foundation course introduced is an e-learning training programme. The program introduces citizen development and facilities using better practices in CD methodologies.
Citizen development platforms use spontaneous ‘low-code’ and ‘no-code’ tools, so that even non-technical, non-specialist employees can create apps.
This training also helps employees to develop software solutions and can also do enterprise-grade applications without having to learn to code.
Citizen development as a course will promise an improvement, increase and rectify enterprise productivity by making application and software development quite faster and less expensive.
At the same time, citizen development also stimulates value delivery. It also enables organizations to achieve desired results more quickly.
Dr Srini Srinivasan, regional managing director, PMI South Asia says, “Accelerated technological evolution, shifting customer demands and global socioeconomic volatility are creating a revolution on how problems are solved and how work gets done. Citizen development will enable anyone to build applications in near real-time. This will result in organizations boosting their productivity levels and help them to focus on innovation and digital transformation at a rapid scale.”
