Member of Parliament Santokh Singh Chaudhary and local MLAs on Monday laid the foundation stones of development projects worth Rs 41.07 crore in different parts of the city as Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh presided over the virtual launch ceremony from Chandigarh.
Participating in the launch ceremony from Jalandhar along with MLAs Bawa Henry, Rajinder Beri & Sushil Rinku, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori and Mayor Jagdish Raja, MP Chaudhary congratulated the Chief Minister for landslide victory in recent local bodies election and thanked him for the projects given to the city.
“The projects would fulfil long pending demands of the people of the city. Jalandhar is going to see transformational change thanks to your vision and leadership for which people and I are extremely grateful,” he told Captain Amarinder Singh during the ceremony.
The projects include installation of 15 MLD sewage treatment plant (STP) at Basti Peer Dad at a cost of Rs 20.61 crore which would provide relief to the citizens of Jalandhar North and West constituencies, upgradation & beautification of Jalandhar city railway station at Rs 6.26 crore, installation of waste management plant of 100 tonnes per day capacity at Gadaipur at Rs 8.09 crore, safety and security measures for Rainak Bazaar street using utility duct for overhanging electrical wires at Rs 4.02 crore, and digitization of Guru Nanak Dev Library at Rs 2.09 crore.
After the launch ceremony, MP Chaudhary laid the foundation stones of STP and railway station upgradation projects accompanied by MLAs Bawa Henry & Rajinder Beri, Mayor Jagdish Raja and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Karnesh Sharma. MLA Rajinder Beri formally launched the digitization project at Guru Nanak Dev Library and upgradation of open power line distribution system project at Rainak Bazaar. MLA Bawa Henry laid the foundation stone of waste management plant at Gadaipur in the presence of Municipal Corporation Commissioner Karnesh Sharma.
Jalandhar Youth Congress President Angad Dutta and Councillor Babita Verma were also present on these occasions.
