A gunfight broke out between the security forces and Naxals in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Bijapur district on Saturday, following which four jawans of CRPF and one District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawan were killed.
There are also reports that three Naxals were also shot dead in the encounter. As per information, heavy exchange of gunfire is underway at Tarrem in Bijapur for the past many hours.
Besides, the Naxals had set nearly 11 vehicles on fire in Dhanora area of Chhattisgarh's Kondagaon district.
Meanwhile, this is the second time in a week; a gunfight has been reported in the Chhattisgarh. A few says back, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) arrested three Naxals for placing explosives in the Sukma district to target security forces.
The Naxals in Chhattisgarh are known to use IEDs and engage in gunfights to target security forces in the area.
Just last month in March, Naxals killed a Zila Panchayat member in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh.
