In a shocking incident, four members of a family were shot dead and two others injured in a clash between two groups allegedly over ‘Love affair’ in Balarwal village in Gurdaspur district early this morning.
As per information, the boy's family was working in their fields when the girl's family opened fire, killing four people and injuring two others. The dead and injured are members of the same family.
Divulging details, Jaspal Singh, a family member of the victims informed that their son had an affair with a girl from the same village and the girl's family had come to know about it. “On Saturday morning, the boy's family was working in their fields and meanwhile the girl's father and some other people came there and suddenly opened fire”, he said.
He said that four people, including Jasbir Singh, Babandeep Singh, Mangal Singh and Sukhwinder Singh, were killed and two others - Harman Singh and Jashanpreet Singh, were injured in the attack.
He further informed that the two injured were immediately rushed to the nearby civil hospital.
Dr Gursharan Singh of Civil Hospital Batala, said that a firing incident took place at Balarwal village early this morning in which four people were shot dead, the dead bodies of whom are kept in mortuary here. He said two people have been severely injured and seeing their critical situation, they have been referred to Amritsar for treatment.

DSP Harkishan Singh, who reached the spot immediately after receiving information, said that Sukhwinder Singh Soni, a resident of Balarwal village, opened fire and injured six people, two of whom were dead on the spot and two died on the way to the hospital and two others who were injured are undergoing treatment at the Civil Hospital Batala. “An investigation is underway and a case will be registered on the statement of the victim’s family and further action will be taken”, he said.
