Reiterating the fact that it is a high time to reform the UNSC by enlarging its permanent and non-permanent bodies, France has backed for inducing India as a permanent member in the United Nations Security Council.

France said that the enlargement of the UNSC is the "first crucial part" towards its reform.

"We want enlargement of the Security Council in the two categories of non-permanent and permanent categories - India, Brazil, Germany and Japan - and equitable representation of Africans and so that is the first crucial part of it," said the French Permanent Representative to the UN François Delattre as per the reports.

India, along with Germany, Brazil and Japan has been emphasizing the fact that it is the need of the hour to enlarge the UNSC and it deserves a permanent membership at the UN high table.

France took the monthly charge of the UNSC for the month of March and had supported India by moving a resolution in the UNSC to blacklist the Mastermind of the Pulwama attacks and the Jaish-e-Mohammed Chief Masood Azhar globally.
