Climate activist Disha Ravi has been sent to one-day police custody by a Delhi court on Monday. Ravi was arrested by Delhi police for her alleged involvement in a toolkit document relating to farmers' protest, which the police believe has been created and edited by Disha.

Earlier, the police had asked for fresh five-day custody of Ravi. She was presented in court after her three-day judicial custody ended. The 22-year-old was arrested on February 13 and initially sent to five-day police custody.

The police said that Ravi has been dishonest during the investigation and is shifting the blame on the other accused - Nikita and Shantanu, thus they require Ravi’s custody to question her in front of the other two suspects. Public Prosecutor Vikas Singh representing the Delhi police said that a request for police custody will be helpful for Disha and it will also bring the truth to light.

Ravi's lawyer Siddharth Agarwal opposed the police's demand saying she has already been questioned by the police and facts conveyed in the earlier remand application. "The police have a right to interrogate the accused even in jail. Why would you require to take her in police custody?" asked Agarwal.

Disha’s bail petition is pending before Additional Sessions Judge Dharmender Rana, who will be passing an order on Tuesday on her plea.

During the last hearing on Saturday, the judge has questioned the police on their severe allegations of Ravi. The judge asked it if it was only acting on "surmises, inferences, and conjectures", further adding that on solid evidence on how the toolkit was connected to the violence that happened on farmers tractor rally march. The Delhi Police, however, claimed that Disha is a part of an international conspiracy against India and had deleted evidence like emails and messages.
