Jalandhar Police Commissionerate led by Commissioner of Police Mr Swapan Sharma has busted a gang involved in smuggling of drugs with arrest of four smugglers with 250 grams heroin.
Giving details Commissioner of Police said that Police had got a tip off that a gang was involved in smuggling of heroin in the city. He said that subsequently a trap was laid near Y Point Harnam-Dass Pura, when a youth Sunny Vehmi s/o Sunil r/o Geeta Colony Street No 6 Kala Sanghian Road, Jalandhar now at H.No NA-246 Kishanpura Jalandhar was spotted. Mr Swapan Sharma said that suspicious of the youth the Police stopped him and conducted his checking during which 100 grams of heroin was recovered from him.
The Commissioner of Police said that a FIR 91 dated 22-08-2024 u/s 21 NDPS Act was registered at PS Division No. 2, Jalandhar. He said that
during the investigation it came into light that three other individuals Honey Kalyan s/o Shivji r/o H.No 678 Link Road Abadpura Jalandhar, Money Sabharwal s/o Bobby Sabharwal r/o H.No WJ-149 Basti Gujjan Shakti Nagar Jalandhar and Neeraj s/o Raj Kumar r/o H.No WJ-149 Basti Gujjan Shakti Nagar Jalandhar were also involved in this crime. Subsequently, Mr Swapan Sharma said that the Police arrested the trio and 100 grams of heroin was recovered from Honey Kalyan and 50 grams of heroin was recovered from Money Sabharwal.
The Commissioner of Police said that two cases are pending against Sunny and Honey, four against Money whereas no criminal record has been found against Neeraj. He said that further investigations into the case are going on and details will be shared later. Mr Swapan Sharma reiterated the firm commitment of police to wipe out the scourge of drugs from the city.
