Wanted in at least 6 murder cases, Gangster Jassa Happowal of Rinda Khatri gang on Wednesday tried to flee from Police custody in Zirakpur. In response, the AGTF team had to open fire at Gangster Jassa Happowal in which he was shot and injured. As per reports, the Police had taken him to recover the pistol in a case of murder, but he started escaping from custody. Thereafter, the police first fired in the air and then shot him in the leg. In a bid to stop him, a police personnel was also injured.
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav's official X handle confirmed the encounter and wrote, "Gangster Jassa Happowal was injured in Police action while attempting to flee from police custody in a major action by AGTF, Punjab. He was arrested recently and was involved in 6 murder cases and other heinous crimes...AGTF team had to open fire to stop him from fleeing which led to gunshot injuries. An AGTF official was also injured in preventing his escape. They have been shifted to the nearest hospital....@PunjabPoliceInd is fully committed to destroying the criminal network as per directions of CM @BhagwantMann."
Coming back to the Gangster, reports suggest that the gangster was hit by at least 6 bullets and hence he is in critical condition. As per the cops, the firing took place in Peermuchalla, Zirakpur. A policeman was also injured during the firing. Jassa, a resident of Nawanshahr, is close to gangsters Harvinder Rinda and Sonu Khatri. Jassa reportedly committed 3 murders in 3 days in October. He was arrested in November this year.
Police took Jassa to the location to recover a Chinese pistol with which he carried out one attack. However, during that Jassa tried to flee from the spot.
