Sukhdool Singh, a former employee of the Moga District Commissioner's (DC) office in Punjab(as per sources), found himself at the center of an international crime saga in an unexpected turn of events.
With the alias Sukha Duneke, he used forged documents to enter Canada in 2017, where he was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Winnipeg.
Sukha Duneke: A life of Crime:
Sukha Duneke, from the Punjab district of Moga, was deeply involved with Khalistani extremist groups. He had a notorious reputation for organizing crimes across Punjab and neighboring states through his criminal associates.
Sukha was a prolific criminal, with over 23 criminal cases filed against him. Notably, he plotted the murder of Sandeep Singh Nangal, an international kabaddi player, during a match in Jalandhar last year.
Fake documents and escaping to Canada:
According to a FIR filed last year, Sukha's criminal journey took an international turn when he obtained a passport with the help of two Punjab Police officers. This allowed him to flee to Canada, where he remained involved in Khalistani activities. His family, including his mother and sister, lived in Canada as well.
The Winnipeg shooting:
Sukha Duneke's story took a shocking turn when he was shot down in his own Winnipeg home. His death has raised concerns about the scope of gang warfare, which has its origins in Punjab but has spread to other countries. His family, including his mother and sister, lived in Canada as well.
Involvement with Khalistani extremists:
Sukha Duneke was closely associated with Khalistani extremist activities. He had worked closely with Arsh Dala, a notorious figure in the Khalistani movement. Both of them had attempted to revive the Khalistani organization after the assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Surrey, Canada.

A Former Government employee turned Gangster:
What makes Sukha Duneke's story even more intriguing is his past as a government employee in the Moga DC office?
After the death of his father, he secured a job as a peon in the office through compassionate grounds. However, over the years, he fell into the grip of addiction and crime. His criminal record eventually led to a lookout notice being issued against him in January 2022.
Lawrence Bishnoi claims responsibility:
In a bizarre twist, Lawrence Bishnoi, a notorious gangster currently incarcerated in India, claimed responsibility for Sukha Duneke's murder on social media. This revelation highlights the complexity of gang rivalries that span international borders.
The Challenge of transnational Gang warfare:
Sukha Duneke's murder is a stark reminder of the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in dealing with transnational criminal networks. It underscores the need for international cooperation to combat the influence of such criminal syndicates operating across borders.
As investigations into Sukha Duneke's murder and the wider dynamics of gang warfare continue, it becomes increasingly evident that tackling organized crime requires a united front and a concerted effort to dismantle these criminal networks that transcend national boundaries.
The Punjab-to-Canada crime trail serves as a grim example of the global reach of criminal syndicates and the urgent need to address this menace.
