The Aam Aadmi Party government has taken a stand regarding the DGP's chair in Punjab. The government has issued an order to retain Gaurav Yadav as the DGP of Punjab.
It has also been decided that DGP VK Bhavra has been made the Chairman of Punjab Police Housing Corporation. The government issued this order on Saturday. VK Bhavra will be returning from vacation tomorrow.
Bhavra was appointed during the previous Congress government of the state and became the DGP. He was appointed after the panel came from UPSC.
According to the rules made by the Supreme Court, this appointment has been done for 2 years. The previous government had sent a panel of 10 IPS officers to the UPSC. Out of that, 3 officers came after being shortlisted. Out of which Bhavra was appointed.
If removed, Bhavra can challenge it in the Supreme Court. The important thing, in this case, is that Bhavra can now challenge it in the Supreme Court. If this happens, then the difficulties of the government led by CM Bhagwant Mann may increase.
