Team India Head Coach Gautam Gambhir has approached the Delhi Police and filed a complaint after he received a death threat allegedly from a terror organisation. Gautam Gambhir received a death threat via Email just a few hours after he posted grieving for the victims of the Pahalgam Terror Attack. The threat has been reported issued by 'ISIS Kashmir'. Office of Gautam Gambhir was quoted by a newswire saying that the Team India Head Coach and former cricketer reached out to the police and filed an official complaint to safeguard his family's security. Gambhir got the threat via e-mail, which contained three chilling words 'I Kill You'.
"Former BJP MP and current head coach of the Indian cricket team, Gautam Gambhir, received a death threat from 'ISIS Kashmir'. On Wednesday, he approached the Delhi Police, filing a formal complaint for an FIR and seeking measures to safeguard his family's security," the office said.
It is pertinent to mention here that Gambhir received two threatening emails on Tuesday, one in the afternoon and another in the evening, both conveying the same message. This was not the first instance of such threats; in November 2021, while serving as a Member of Parliament, Gambhir had received a similar email.
What did Gautam Gambhir post on Pahalgam Terror Attack?
Just like millions and billions of India, Gambhir too slammed the Pahalgam Terror Attack. Gambhir posted on X, which reads, "Praying for the families of the deceased. Those responsible for this will pay. India will strike. #Pahalgam."
India's diplomatic strike on Pakistan
In the aftermath of the cowardly Pahalgam Terror Attack, India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in their press briefing on Wednesday night made the massive announcement on the Indus Water Treaty. Addressing the media after Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting which lasted for over two hours, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced several measures "recognising the seriousness" of the terrorist attack, including holding in abeyance with immediate effect the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960 until Pakistan "credibly and irrevocably abjures its support for cross-border terrorism".
India also decided to close the Attari Integrated Checkpost - located along the international border between India and Pakistan in Punjab at a distance of about 28 km from Amritsar - with immediate effect.
Pakistani nationals will also not be permitted to travel to India under the SAARC visa exemption scheme. Any Specific Purpose Work Visa (SPES) visas issued in the past to Pakistani nationals are now deemed cancelled, and any Pakistani national currently in India under a SPES visa has 48 hours to leave India.
The Foreign Secretary also announced that the defence, military, naval, and air advisors at the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi have been declared persona non grata and have a week to leave India. Similarly, India will be withdrawing its own defence, navy, and air advisors from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, with these posts in the respective High Commissions deemed annulled.
