Former Indian Cricket team batsman Gautam Gambhir got bestowed with Padma Shri Award by President Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday. The award ceremony was held at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi. Gautam Gambhir, who is well known not to mince his words on anything, took to Twitter thanking his wife, well wishers and critics taking a light jibe at his critics.
"This is for all the supporters of Indian cricket and my critics. Both have played a part in my journey...some day will discuss who played more than the other @BCCI #padmashriaward," Gambhir tweeted.

Along with Gambhir, the other sportspersons who were bestowed with the Padma Shri Award were football player Sunil Chhetri, Archer Bombayla Devi, Basketball star Prashanti Singh, Wrester Bajrang Punia, Kabaddi captain Ajay Thakur, Table Tennis star Achantha Sharath Kamal and Chess player Dronavalli.
Gautam Gambhir has had a successful career full of ups-and-downs before he retired from all forms of cricket in December 2018. Amassing over 10,000 International runs, Gautam Gambhir once ruled the ICC rankings at the peak of his career.
