The much-awaited Gautam Gambhir's first press conference took place on Monday with Team India's new Head Coach answering almost every question and clearing all rumors floating in media, especially in terms of his support staff. Team India Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar also joined Gautam Gambhir in his press conference and cleared the air on Ravindra Jadeja's omission and Shubman Gill being appointed as Team India's Vice Captain. Gautam Gambhir in his press conference confirmed the appointment of Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate in his support staff. However, Gambhir stated that final announcement of his support staff will take place after India vs Sri Lanka series. Now, the question arises who are in Gautam Gambhir's support staff?

Gautam Gambhir addressing the media announced, " We can't finalize yet. But people like Ryan (Ten Doeschate) and Abhishek (Nayar) are someone I've worked with. I've got some really good feedback from the players as well about the other guys as well.

Really happy with BCCI. They've agreed with most things I've asked for. The crux of the support staff will remain as they are. The rest of the staff will be finalized after the Sri Lanka tour. Abhishek and Ryan as assistant coach. T Dilip will continue as fielding coach. Sairaj Bahutule as interim bowling coach for the Sri Lanka tour..."

It is pertinent to mention here that reports suggest that the BCCI is in talks with former South African speedster Morne Morkel for the role of bowling coach of Team India. As a result, Team India is going to Sri Lanka with an interim bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule.

Sairaj Bahutule is working at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. He will be with Team India for the next six matches. India has to play three ODIs and three T20 matches against Sri Lanka. Bahutule will soon join Gautam Gambhir's team.
