England's veteran speedster James Anderson recently opened up about sledging Shubman Gill which later turned out to be a heated argument between the Team India player and Johnny Bairstow. Team India recently thrashed England 5-match Test series by 4-1. The India vs England Test series concluded with the hosts winning the final match in picturesque Dharamshala by an innings. However, INDvsENG's fifth Test turned tense, and tempers flared when Shubman Gill, Johnny Bairstow, and James Anderson were involved in a heated exchange.
Anderson has revealed he was the one to begin the war of words with Gill. Anderson in a podcast for a UK media said, "I said something to him like, ‘Do you get any runs outside India?’ and he said, ‘It’s time to retire’. Interestingly, two balls after that Anderson clean bowled Shubman Gill. However, till then Shubman Gill was already playing on 110.
Interestingly, Shubman Gill averages 41.38 on home soil with three centuries, while averaging 29.66 outside India.
Shubman Gill-Johnny Bairstow fight
Shubman Gill and Johnny Bairstow got involved in a heated exchange on Day 3 of the Dharamshala test. Bairstow was heard on stump-mic saying, "What did you say to Jimmy about him retiring?” Bairstow asked. In response, Gill said, "I told him he should retire." Bairstow said, "And then he got you out next ball?" On this, Gill replied, "So what? How many times has …" Bairstow: “I was just asking."
Gill then said, "He can get me out after my 100." On this, Bairstow mocked, "100 percent". Again, Gill asked, "How many 100s [do you have] this series?"
