Pherurai village is located in Raikot tehsil of Ludhiana district in Punjab, India. It is situated 18 km away from the sub-district headquarters of Raikot (tehsildar office) and 52 km away from district headquarters of Ludhiana.
Residents of Pherurai village have set up a unique example of communal harmony, where the first 13 bricks for the building of a mosque were Saturday 'purified' at Gurdwara Rai Patti of Pherurai in a combined Sikh Ardas and Islamic Dua. Sikhs extended their support for money and material as well.
Iqbal Singh President of Gurudwara Pherurai says, "Awal Allah Noor Upaya Kudrat ke Sab Bndde, We have given our services to the mosque because of the teachings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
Worshipping is a Universal practise be it in Mosques, Temples, or Gurudwaras. We affirm that all religions can co-exist in peace.
"Our village celebrates Diwali, Eid, and Gurpurab in the same spirit. We gather like a family in all religious affairs. I would like to urge everyone that Kindness costs nothing, extend your hand in helping someone and see what life offers to you."
Inderjit Singh, a Muslim from the village says, " After the prayers at the gurudwara the Sikh brothers carried the bricks with us.
The mosque is present in a sikh dominated village. It is a true essence of brotherhood. Sikhs have been a great support in the whole process."
