The farmer's representatives remained stern with their demands of repealing the farm laws while the Union Ministers have said that the laws are meant for the entire country and not only Punjab and Haryana.
The farmers’ leaders said that they will bring their legislation.
The next round of talks will take place on January 15.
One farmer leader said at the meeting today, "Our ghar wapsi can happen only if you do law wapsi'.”
Another farmer leader pointed out that the Centre should not intervene in farming matters as the Supreme Court has declared that agriculture-related concerns are state subject. "It seems you (the government) do not want to resolve the issue as talks have been happening for so many days. In that case, please give us a clear answer and we will go. Why to waste everyone's time," he added.
All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC) member Kavitha Kuruganti, who was also present in the meeting, said the government has told unions it can not and will not repeal these laws.
The three new agricultural laws, constituted in September 2020, have sparked rage across the country.
Thousands of farmers have been protesting against these laws for over a month now, have warned to carry a tractor rally in the national capital on Republic Day if their demands are not met.
Over 40 farmer leaders are supporting the protest and besides Union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar, the government side is being represented by Railways, Commerce and Food Minister Piyush Goyal and Minister of State for Commerce Som Parkash, who is an MP from Punjab.
The last meeting failed to break the deadlock while ahead of today’s talk Mr Tomar said he was hoping to find a solution.
