Afghanistan locked horns with Bangladesh on Tuesday in the last match of the Super 8 at Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown, St Vincent. The Afghanistan vs Bangladesh T20 World Cup 2024 match was not only crucial for the teams playing but also for Australia who relied heavily on the AFGvsBAN results. With a Semi-final spot on the cards, Afghanistan and Bangladesh were up for anything in the tricky weather of Kingstown. But, what caught everyone's attention was when Afghanistan allrounder Gulbadin Naib lay on the ground holding his hamstring.
Gulbadin Naib's injury came at the exact moment when Afghanistan Coach Jonathan Trott gestured to Rashid Khan & Co that rain had started pouring down and they should 'slow it down'. At that particular moment, Afghanistan was 2 runs ahead in terms of the DL method. Hence, Gulbadin Naib was accused of lying about his injury in front of the entire world. Even Team India offspinner Ravichandran Ashwin took to his X handle and took a dig saying 'Red Card for Gulbadin Naib'.
