Parents are a gift from God and to celebrate this valuable gift, we observe June 1 as Global Day of Parents. This day celebrates the unique bond between parents and children. However, one day to be grateful to people who bring us into the world is unimaginably less. Parents should be loved, respected, and celebrated every day of the year.
They give us unconditional love, care and make us ready for the outer world. It is high time we return the same love and care to them. This year, on Global Parents day, let's appreciate our parents who have always been ready to fight against the world just to save us.
Talking about the term ‘parents’ we think of our mother and father, but on Global Parents Day 2021 let's honor everyone who is a parent figure to us like our grandparents, uncles and aunts, elder brother or sister, people who are always looking after us.

History
Since the 1980s, the UN has started considering the issues related to the family. Later, in its resolution of 1993, the United Nation decided that May 15 should be observed as International Day of Families. Further, it was realized that parents play a critical role in the family, in fact, they are the backbone of the family. So, a resolution was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2012 deciding to celebrate June 1 as the Global Day of Parent.
The resolution stated, “The General Assembly invites the Member States to celebrate the Global Parents Day of Parents in full partnership with society, particularly involving young people and children.”

The Global Day of Parents recognizes their critical role in providing protection and positive development to their children. Being the backbone of the family, parents are also the first teacher of the child. They have to face economic, physical, and psychological challenges to provide everything they can to their children.
On this day we celebrate the vital role of parents in the rearing, nurturing and protection of children.
Theme
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, many parents lost their children and many children got orphaned due to Covid 19. The role of parents has become more vital as now they have to fight a deadly pandemic to protect and support their children. This year the theme is ‘Appreciate all parents throughout the world’. This year's theme is dedicated to parents all over the world who are working extra to provide everything for their children's needs, from education to food amid the period where no one has job security and life is uncertain.
